US adds Chinese oil giant to economic blacklist, Skyrizon to Military End-User list

  The US has added Chinese National Overseas Oil Corporation (CNOOC) to its economic blacklist for helping China in intimidating its neighbours in the South China Sea. The United States on January 14, 2021 added Chinese oil giant- Chinese National Overseas Oil Corporation (CNOOC)- to its economic blacklist for helping China in intimidating its neighbours in the South China Sea. The United States has also added Chinese company  Skyrizon  to its Military End-User (MEU) List due to its capability to develop, produce or maintain military items such as military aircraft engines. The information was shared by US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross who stated that both the companies have threatened US national security. EAM S Jaishankar holds talks with Nepalese counterpart Gyawali

  The talks between India and Nepal are taking place under the framework of the Indo-Nepal Joint Commission meeting. The External Affairs Minister of India, S Jaishankar on January 15, 2021, held talks with the Foreign minister of Nepal, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali with a focus on different key aspects of the bilateral relations between the two nations. As per the officials, the talks between India and Nepal are taking place under the framework of the Indo-Nepal Joint Commission meeting. The Foreign Minister of Nepal, Pradeep Kumar Gayawali arrived in India on January 14 for a three-day visit. Gayawali is also the first senior political leader from Nepal to visit India after the ties between the two neighbouring countries came under strain because of a border issue. India and Japan sign MoU to strengthen cooperation in Information and Communications Technology

  The Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad urged the electronics industry of Japan to invest in India as well as avail the benefits of the new technologies. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between India and Japan on January 15, 2021, to enhance cooperation in the field of ICT- Information and Communications Technology. The MoU was signed by Ravi Shankar Prasad, the Union Minister for Communications, Electronics and IT, and Takeda Ryota, the Internal Affairs and Communications Minister of Japan. The signing was exchanged through a video conference. The Japanese Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications expressed happiness during the signing of the MoU between India and Japan. He also assured the commitment of the Japanese government towards mutual cooperation and investments in India. Palestine to hold first national elections after 14 years

  The parliamentary elections will be conducted on May 22nd, presidential elections on July 31st and Palestinian National Council elections on August 31st. Palestine is set to hold its  first national elections  in 2021 after a span of 14 long years.
